As soon the vet called us in he told us that Pequeno had dislocated one part of his bone on his right back leg. The vet also said that Pequeno has to wear a cast for four weeks and needs to take medication to help him calm down a bit, so he won't be wanting to run or play around that much while he is wearing the cast.

I wonder what he's thinking about?
Around seven o'clock I have to give him his medicine. "I have to give Pequeno his medication for four weeks; right after he takes it he lays down and tries to hide under his blankets." Field notes 11/6

Will it take more then four weeks for his leg to get better?
What should I do for Pequeno's long term injury?
According to Vet Info on "Long Term Care For a Dog Leg Injury" it says I have to determine the method of healing, to follow Pequeno's vet instructions, and to give the attention he needs to feel better. I just have to be there for him like he's always been there for me. Pequeno is a strong small dog. Pequeno knows he has to have his leg better soon, so he can run around again.

He looks so sad with his cast. I'm sure it's a lot like having a sick baby; I always wanted to explain to them what was wrong, and I worried they thought they were being punished.
ReplyDeleteAww he looks so miserable. This reminds me so much of when my little brother broke his hand! He was so sad and all he wanted to do was run around but my mom was afraid he'd get hurt. Anyways, I hope he gets better, don't stress yourself out. Good job.
