Broken

As I began to think Pequeno was feeling better it turned out to be that I was wrong. My dad and I took Pequeno to the animal hospital on Wednesday around three-thirty in the afternoon.

As soon the vet called us in he told us that Pequeno had dislocated one part of his bone on his right back leg. The vet also said that Pequeno has to wear a cast for four weeks and needs to take medication to help him calm down a bit, so he won't be wanting to run or play around that much while he is wearing the cast.

When my dad and I arrived home with Pequeno. I put Pequeno in his warm bed right away. " He lays down in his bed all quiet, no sound coming out from him just pure silence." Field notes 11/5

I wonder what he's thinking about?

Around seven o'clock I have to give him his medicine. "I have to give Pequeno his medication for four weeks; right after he takes it he lays down and tries to hide under his blankets." Field notes 11/6

Will it take more then four weeks for his leg to get better?

What should I do for Pequeno's long term injury?

According to Vet Info on "Long Term Care For a Dog Leg Injury" it says I have to determine the method of healing, to follow Pequeno's vet instructions, and to give the attention he needs to feel better. I just have to be there for him like he's always been there for me. Pequeno is a strong small dog. Pequeno knows he has to have his leg better soon, so he can run around again.

Listening?

Pequeno has been feeling a lot better, he has that cheerful expression that tells me that he is happy once again.

"His ears pointing up, while his long white long tail is curled up in a c-shape figure, he gets excited once he hears my voice call out his name to go outside my frontyard." Field notes 10/29

"He starts running back and fourth, so fast as if he is a cheetah trying to catch it's prey" Field notes 10/29

While we're outside he spots my neighbor's dog named Sparky.

"Pequeno spots my neighbor's dog Sparky right away, he gets too excited everytime he sees him; Pequeno quickly wags his tail and tries to play with him." Field notes 10/29

I wonder why Pequeno gets excited when he see's other dogs?

"I called his name to go back inside,  but he wouldn't listen to me. He was still with Sparky waging his tail; it was hard for me to get him back inside." Filed notes 10/29

I wonder why he didn't respond to me right away? Why did he ignore me?

According to Positively "What To Do When Your Dog Won't Listen" it explains that if I want Pequeno to listen to me more when he's around other dog's. I have to motivate him with rewards by making him feel good about himself and to also use any rewards to grab his attention quick, such as using toys, play, praise, or simply being touched. I hope rewarding Pequeno will make him listen more while he's around other dogs or anything around him that distracts him easily.

Worried.

I've noticed that there's something wrong with Pequeno lately. Pequeno has been a bit down, more tired, and less active all of a sudden.

"I don't know what's wrong with Pequeno. He's been staring at the wall for a while with his head down, ears low, and ignoring anyone who calls his name." Field notes 10/23

Feeling that something was wrong. I waited for my dad to come back from work to see what's the matter with Pequeno. As soon as my dad arrived home I told him right away. My dad yelled out Pequeno's name and there was no response, he yelled his name once again then Pequeno slowly walks to my dad as if he is in pain.

"As my dad holds Pequeno in his arms, he softly rubs Pequeno's chest. Suddenly Pequeno cries out loudly, having his tail down and eyes all watery; he goes back to his bed and stares at the wall again." Field notes 10/23

I checked online to see what's wrong with Pequeno and to find out what is causing Pequeno so much pain. According to My Pawsitively Pets "7 Signs That Your Dog Is In Pain" it explains that when a dog cries out it means that they are in intense pain. It also states that if a dog is touched in that certain area, one has to be careful and watch out for anything else that causes the pain to hurt more.

My dad is planning to take Pequeno to the vet as soon as possible to get him the help he needs to get better and up in his paws again. I don't know what to do, it's hard to see Pequeno like this. I hope that he'll get better soon and to be the happy dog he's always been.

Favorites

I don't know when it began ,but the thing I don't get about Pequeno is that he has his favorites from my family of four. Between me, my father, and brother.

Taken October 15,2014

I've figured out that Pequeno's favorite is my father. "Full with excitement Pequeno is wagging his tail quickly and trys to get my father's attention as my father arrives home back from work." Field notes 10/2

Pequeno always walks beside my father as if he's proud to have my father in his life. "As my father comes home from work, Pequeno quickly uses his cat walk and follows my father to his room." (Field notes 10/13)

Taken October 15,2014
When my father is home he ignores my brother and I when we call his name to get his attention. He looks at us as if we are strangers to him.

When my father is not home he's either laying in his bed with his head down waiting for him to come back or he's with me or my brother trying to get distracted as the time passes.

I wonder why he chose my father as his number one owner? I wonder why he ignores me?

Spoiled?

For the past few days of having no school I've come to realize that everytime Pequeno wants something he does two main things. First is the stretch and reach. "Giving a little twitch in his ears as he gets up quickly and stretches; reaches his sharp paws to my leg to get my attention."(Field notes,10/6)

He gives me his puppy eyes if the first one doesn't work. "So bright dark brown eyes sparking as he locks my eyes with his; he then goes and lays down again and acts if he's depressed; I go up to him and start petting him gently." (Field notes, 10/6)

It's amazing that he also uses his cuteness to get what he wants. When he wants to go outside he uses his eyes. When he wants the car window down to get a little air he uses his eyes. When he wants food he reaches up to me wags his tail and uses his eyes again. He's a little small dog who knows how to run the house with a little trick that get him attention and to get what he wants.

I wonder why he does that to me?

Remembering

Since I've started observating Pequeno, I feel like I'm getting to know him more than before. Like how he likes to follow anyone who carries food around him, and how he dislikes it when I call his name for him to take a bath that warns him run quickly under the bed.

As his fur is getting longer and longer everyday that make me think that it's time for him to get a haircut and also that time is passing fast. "He looks more like a coyote today; long pointy hairy ears, very skinny four legs, long fur tail, and more all over his face that seems as if he can't see anything." Field notes,9/29

I remember when he was a puppy he used to scratch my door when it was fully close while he does a little howl   as he tried to get my attention to open the door. He also used to scare me all the time too. I remember I walked to my room one day when it was fully dark then all of a sudden I hear ripping sounds thinking that there's a monster inside. I turned on the lights and there he was with a pile of ripped paper all over my room. What a little troublemaker he was and still is.

Pequeno still acts like a puppy. I come to realize the actions he does are more memorable to me because everything he does reminds me of  how time had passed quickly.

Observing

I've spent the last two week observing my dog Pequeno. I had found out new things about him everyday and was amazed of how he had been acting lately. I know I still need to know more about him later on.

I've notice that my dog puts both his ears up and turns his head when he is curious about something that doesn't seem right to him.

I wonder how long it takes for Pequeno to get hungry again?  "His eyes seemed as if he wanted to go to sleep. Birds chirping outside; Hearing Pequeno's tummy growl loudly right after he gets up." Field notes, 9/13

I see him everyday for the pass seven years and I had never noticed how dark his eyes were. "Does a little cough and twitches his ears. Could see his black spots right under his white fur. Eyes that are dark brown that I can see clearly right through him." Field notes, 9/16

I've observed him and had learned new things about him everyday. I've seen how he has a certain position that he feels comfortable with. "His fur is getting into a light brown color; he's now in a bowing position as he looks beneath the bed."  Field notes, 9/24

I wonder what Pequeno thinks of me? I wonder how he feels of me observing him? Does he think of me as his pet owner or his friend?
